Drawing is how I understand the world and how I seek to be understood. In the process, I often better understand myself as well.
When drawing, I am thinking about positions in space. I am studying basic shapes defined by edges and also by color patches. I am observing how light illuminates surfaces.
Yet I am also processing my physical sensations such as the sun on my face or the wind at my back or the dampness of the ground beneath me. These all effect my drawing.
Whatever comes across my mind is also there in the marks I make on paper.
Every mark that I make should record what my eye sees, what my body senses, and what my heart feels.
